Working from Home: How to Stay Productive
Amidst the Covid-19 outbreak, many businesses around the world, both large and small have asked their employees to work from home in order to create social distancing and limit the spread of the virus.
In an effort to keep the employees safe and healthy, MGH has also decided to ask their employees to work remotely from home. Apart from this, MGH is taking extensive measures and following all guidelines to ensure disinfection and maintaining a clean and hygienic environment in all of their offices (especially the warehouses) around the world in order to safeguard the employees working on the frontline. They have been provided with masks, gloves and any other necessary gears required by the nature of their work to make sure they stay safe.
In this digital era of laptops and smartphones, working remotely from home is much easier and flexible than ever before and therefore, might raise productivity as well. No wonder it is considered a dream job by many people. However, as easy as it may seem, it might also be much harder than anticipated to focus and complete work on time for most people who are new to this.
Below are a few points on how to stay productive while working from home:
1. Wake up as you would do on office days and follow the same routine. It may seem tempting to sleep for a few extra hours in the morning or stay up late at night however, in order to have a productive day, it is important to follow the same routine as always. Apart from this, creating to-do lists, setting goals will also help in getting the work done and achieving your targets.
2. Home is where we relax and unwind after a long and tiring day. Therefore, being able to focus on work at home might be very difficult. Besides, there tend to be a lot of distractions as well. The trick to staying focused is by creating a separate space just for work away from your space to relax.
3. Just like it is important to take small breaks at work, when you live where you work, this becomes all the more important. Taking small breaks in between tasks by taking a short walk around the house or completing some household chores will help keep your mind fresh and give you that much needed motivation to finish the task at hand.
4. Social distancing can also cause social isolation and this might have a negative impact on work. Therefore, during this time, it is important to stay connected with your friends and colleagues albeit electronically as it will greatly help with uplifting your mood and concentrating on your work.
As this might be a new experience for most, it is okay to be anxious about being able to stay focused and completing your work on time. However, by following these simple tips and with a little practice, it will become a piece of cake in no time.
This is one of the finest decision that come from MGH . In a meantime that will be one of the biggest motivation for employees to work with proper concentration. I think one more term you can add to achieve actual target which is better communication. Strong Internal communication should be go on with full force so that everyone can make sure end of day the result will come as earlier.
