SMC and ADL : Distribution Partnership

Aquamarine Distribution Ltd. (ADL) – a venture of MGH Group, has recently partnered with SMC Enterprise Ltd. (SMC-EL) to distribute the pharmaceutical products of SMC across Bangladesh.

In a brief ceremony at SMC’s head office in Dhaka, Md. Ali Reza Khan, managing director of SMC Enterprise Ltd, and Anis Ahmed, managing director of MGH Group, signed and exchanged the documents of the deal on 30th July, 2017, Sunday. The M.D. and CEO of SMC Mr. Ashfaq Rahman, director and CEO of ADL Mr. Kamrul Islam and other higher management officials of MGH and SMC were present at this occasion.

SMC began its journey in 1974 as a project to address the rapid population growth in the country. SMC Enterprise has been one of the leading non-profit community-centric enterprises in the country whose core focus was the welfare and wellbeing for the people of Bangladesh. SMC Enterprise markets a full range of family planning products, ORS (Oral Rehydration Salts) and has diversified into food, nutrition, reproductive health and female hygiene. Along with a wide range of existing consumer products, SMC recently brought much focus on expanding their pharmaceutical products in the market, which will be distributed by ADL.

On the other hand, Aquamarine Distribution Ltd. has one of the largest pharmaceutical distribution networks in the country – which comprises 20 branches and about a thousand field level workers. ADL previously has been the distribution partners with international pharmaceutical brands such as Sanofi Aventis and Nuvista Pharma Ltd. in Bangladesh. And in the process of becoming the distribution partner of SMC Enterprise Ltd., the vision of ADL and MGH Group to contribute to the welfare of the community will be materialized through dispensing affordable pharmaceutical products nationwide, including the rural areas of Bangladesh.

In the event, both chief guests addressed the potential strong relationship between these companies that will follow through a series of business plans and cooperation between them. On behalf of ADL and MGH Group, Mr. Anis Ahmed shared the mutual vision for the expansion of pharmaceutical industry in the country and the significance of this partnership with the renowned SMC Pharmaceuticals.
